The beginning of the end

The past few years have been definitely landmark years of the changes and bizarre occurrences. However, 2020 takes the lead for the year that will mark the beginning of a new life, life as we know it will change.
The coronavirus aka COVID 19 hit the world with a vengeance. What they say is not a man-made virus has spread like wildfire and infected thousands, expected to infect millions. Making this a landmark time in history. In order to curb the spread, the world leaders have literally shut the world down in an effort to put us all in a bubble. Death is inevitable.
However, what is the long term consequences to the world as we know it, making these drastic stay at home orders? Millions are laid off, unable to work, unable to provide. Small businesses are closed down, businesses that are barely making it as it is. Confinement keeps being extended with no real end in sight.
Children are teaching themselves via distance learning, parents having no idea how they can help and teachers so overwhelmed that they aren’t readily available. People are panic buying and those who can’t afford to stock up spend days searching for their basic needs to be met.
Domestic violence is at an all-time high, burglaries, and looting are increasing and suicides are soon to follow. Gun sales in March 2020 hit an all-time record. The financial uncertainty is the scariest part.
What are we to do?
Many have lost hundreds of thousands from their retirement accounts. Families are pushing off bills that will have to be repaid when all of this is done, but where does that money come from that will allow them to catch The stimulus package is a nice gesture but only goes so far.
Are we going to get so accustomed to the confinement, to being locked in our homes, working from home, buying things online that it becomes a new way of life?
So where do we go from here?
When the world opens back up and we are off house confinement and able to conduct business as usual what’s next? This is definitely a major turning point in history. However, this is not the first time in history world leaders made a decision to shut down the world in an attempt to limit the spread of a virus.
People will die, in my opinion, all of us have an intended death day and there is nothing we can do to stop it. The primary concern isn’t so much the death but overwhelming the medical community. Those men and women are on the front line of this like soldiers.
Image how overburdened the funeral homes are? How hard the crematoriums are working? How many more days it will rake to put your loved ones to rest.
In a time where we can communicate with someone around the world instantly but still feel worlds apart based on cultural standards, we are all bound together by this virus. No-one is immune from the impact and toll this will take on humankind as we know it
